not to sure about this one...I don't think the die hard Twilight fans even have Vanessa in their radar (they like Q'orianka Kilcher, but Jill at VABN even have Brenda Song up for the role).

Where did this rumor start anyway?

from a merged topic:
If rumours are to be believed Robert Pattinson is on the verge of stealing Vanessa Hudgens from Zac Efron.

It seems like Vanessa might be being considered for the role of Leah in the next Twilight flick so could soon be spending a lot of time with sexy Rob.

Click here to see the latest photos of Robert and Kristen >

She usually works with Zac Efron on movies so it would be strange for the couple to be on different acting jobs.

Camilla Belle and Brenda Song are also rumoured to be up for the role so we will just have to wait and see who gets the role.

Camilla Belle has allegedly dated Rob in the past so it might be quite interesting if she got the part.

It's not know what her current squeeze Joe Jonas would think of her acting alongside Rob but the chance of being in a Twilight flick is an opportunity no girl could turn down.

At least she wouldn't be kissing Rob - Kristen Stewart is the only one for his character Edward Cullen.

edited: cleared by her reps (and by Vanessa in a Japanese interview. no audition even happened)

Widely circulated reports that Vanessa Hudgens has auditioned for the Twilight sequel, New Moon, are, it turns out, completely false. Sources inside Summit Entertainment and Hudgens' camp tell EW that the filmmakers aren't looking at the star (best known as High School Musical's Gabriella Montez) for any role in the soon-to-be-shooting Twilight followup

incidentally, Nikka at Fanforum found this picture of Vanessa with Taylor (who plays Jacob)

The rumor about Vanessa in Twilight started by this person in ZF, who read in her magazine that Vanessa was doing the role of 'Leah' and that it's almost confirmed.

hey im from mexico and while read while i was in the beauty parlor i saw an article of vanessa in a famous teen magazine.. but in the bottom of it , it said that she was considering for auditioning for the part of leah in the sequel of Twilight "New Moon". i dont know if its true but it said that it was almost confirmed.. i hope its true:) cause i love twilight!

I like Twilight but honestly, I don't want her to do it.  Not because it's another franchise or anything, I don't want her to do it because, I kind of hate the other books besides the first one.  I've been debating whether I'd watch it but if she really wants to, then I'd support her 100% and be in the theater.  I think that other girl Q'orianka Kilcher would look much better though.

I haven't either, but I wouldn't miss seeing Vanessa on the big screen for anything in the world...

I've been thinking about reading the books just to get to know the character she might be playing, but idk... what I know of the story hasn't really captured my attention just yet  shrug

I wonder if the change in director will change any of this...I read somewhere that both Kristen and Nikki Reed lobbied for Hardwicke (she directed them and Vanessa in Thirteen)

I too, will probably watch it if she is in it but I'm not into it at all and would rather she stays away from it. I don't think it will add any value to her resume or image.

I'd like her to go indie and prove herself acting wise more likely with darker or more challenging roles. I think staying away from big franchises will help her shed her Disney image quicker and make her be taken much more seriously. I like the chance Lucas took with Milk and wouldn't mind her doing something similar, a small role with serious and respected actors.

I like that too... I would like for her to be in a movie where she's not really expected to carry the movie (which I think she is with Bandslam )

I agree.  I'm kind of apprehensive about bandslam too because whatever negative outcome comes to this, Vanessa's going to get blamed.  I hope it's positive because seriously, I'm tired or reading people's opinion on her acting ability and only basing it on HSM, when she stared in other shows/movies and did really well.

I think it would be great if Vanessa did take on Leah. It will give her the exposure and put her out there again if you get my drift, Twilight being the IT movie. I figure it will give her a chance to play a baddie if that's what Leah is.

Anyway, that pic is an old one taken in 2007 or 2006.

have I mentioned I haven't read any of the books? look

but I have read about the character "Leah" and she seems like a complex character - so it would be an interesting role for Vanessa (if this is indeed true and she gets the part)... let's wait and see

I've been thinking about this too... I mean, from what I have heard about the story she's not even supposed to be one of the focal characters and yet most of the attention the movie is getting from the media is focusing on her. If the producers decided to take some advantage of that and give her a bigger and main role, then that is almost like putting the weight of the film on her shoulders... and then if the movie flops, she's surely getting a lot of flame and fault for that.

Although Leah is basically an annoying character throughout the series, I dont think it would be that much of a controversy if she's really a part of this, since she's not gonna be a threat to the Edward/Bella storyline, fangirls wont murder her that much on message boards.lol

lmao arlene!!  the only thing I remember about Leah, is her ability to annoy the wolf pack and how b**chy she was to them.

I kind of want to see her doing a role with that attitude, but as Leah?  ....she's such a minor character that if the Director needs more space to show off more Edward/Bella scene, there's a big chance that her character won't even make it to the final scene.
