Spotlight: ALEX PETTYFER

We’re kicking off Team Hudgens’ new blog feature, “Spotlight on Co-stars” with the gorgeous Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa’s leading man in this summer’s Beastly.
Alexander Richard Pettyfer was born in Hertfordshire, England to actor Richard Pettyfer and model Lee Ireland on April 10, 1990. He began modeling at the age of 7 after meeting Ralph Lauren in New York City and has since modeled for The Gap, Tommy Hilfiger and, most recently, Burberry.
After having appeared in several school plays, Alex made his professional debut as the title character in the 2005 British TV movie, Tom Brown’s Schooldays.
He cites this experience as the turning point in which he decided he wanted to pursue acting as a career and, sure enough, the following year he was cast as the teenage MI6 spy Alex Rider in Stormbreaker.
Along with roles in Wild Child (2008) and Tormented (2009), Alex has shared the screen with the likes of Stephen Fry, Ewan McGregor, Robbie Coltrane, and Mickey Rourke. Not bad for a relative newcomer whom photographer Greg Gorman calls one of the three most beautiful faces he has photographed.
Alex will receive the ShoWest Male Star of Tomorrow award (alongside Vanessa’s Female Star of Tomorrow) this Thursday, March 18, in Las Vegas.
In correlation to accepting the ShoWest Male Star of Tomorrow Award, Alex gave the trade magazine Variety some insight into what it was like filming Beastly and how it was like winning the lottery. You can read the full article here.
We’re all looking forward to this event and will be bringing you more on ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Awards Ceremony here on the blog and in the forum.
