A Note to Vanessa on Twilight

Dear Vanessa,
I thought I‘d drop you a little note about the now-firmly-squashed rumor that you might be featuring in Twilight. This has come as a huge relief to quite a number of your fans. Not all, but a sizable number.
We understand that the industry is tough and the first priority for an upcoming actress is employment and a foot in, wherever an open door is found. That door for you was HSM. It had its charms and drawbacks. It introduced you to worldwide fame, gave you an income and a platform in Hollywood. However, your talent and potential was buried beyond recognition in the one-dimensional, vanilla-type, unrealistic character you had to play. But that is done.
We found it hard to fathom that you would escape the HSM frying pan only to fall into the Twilight fire where your vivacious personality and free spirit would continue to be smothered by the nauseating and bland moral image demanded by the targeted audience; and horror of horrors, you would continue to be subject to the onslaught of certain species of the human race whose vocabulary consists mainly of: “OMG, he’s so hot!”, “Dem together?”, “No, Dem broke up!”, “Stay away from my man!”.
No Vanessa, you’ve paid your dues, you have a foot in. Twilight would not have added any value to your career neither would any tweenage franchise built on hype. This is the time to go indie and develop your talent; to seek for challenging roles that would stretch you and introduce you to the finer skills of the thespian.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, likewise, a serious and respected career would take time, and patience, and a good choice of roles. Sometimes you have to become smaller to get better; the important thing ultimately is not the hype but the substance. That is what we, your fans, care about and we will always be here, supporting you while you work your way there, one good role after another.
So, thank you for not considering Twilight nor succumbing to the hype. We would delay our celebrations to coincide with the Japanese Premiere of HSM3, where we hope you’ll end your stint with the franchise with a unique and sizzling fashion statement on the red carpet.
